Himba Lady Smoking Pipe
The Himba women cover themselves with otjize, a mixture of butter fat and ochre. The mixture gives their skin a reddish tint which symbolizes the earth's rich red color and the blood that symbolizes life. Married women wear headdresses with many streams of braided hair and colored with otjize. This Himba lady was enjoying her pipe. Himba Village Homestead, Namibia. May 2012.
