Concentric Water Swirls
Located in NW Argentina, Salar del Hombre Muerto is a flat salt pan located near a small mining town. The area is rich in lithium reserves. The environment is ideal to mine lithium; dry, sunny and windy. After rainy season, the water on the flat evaporates through the salt crust creating a layer of brine. The mine then extracts the lithium from the brine by pumping the water into nearby solar ponds. On this day it was raining and I liked the concentric circles of water formed by the rain giving the photo an added dimension. Hombre del Muerto, NW Argentina. January 2014.
