Aqua Rain Rings
This shallow pool of aqua water, surrounded by salt, is situated in Salar del Hombre Muerto; adjacent to a small mining town located in NW Argentina. Salar del Hombre Muerto is rich in lithium reserves. It's a salt pan which encompasses a large area and is very flat. After the rainy season, the water on the flat evaporates through the salt crust to form a layer of brine. A concentrated solution of lithium is left behind when the dry, sunny and windy environment evaporates the water from the brine in the pond. The close standing mine will then extract the lithium from the brine by pumping it into nearby solar ponds. Salar del Hombre Muerto, Argentina. January 2014.
